Speed Is Going To Be Key To The Offense

Watching the San Francisco Giants game last night has me excited for the season to start. It was great to see all the speed, and how that can help the Giants score more runs.

The seventh inning was the single inning that got me excited to see what this team can do this year offensively.

Ryan Theriot started the inning off with a walk. Nate Schierholtz then got hit with an 0-2 count. Now this is where the speed kicked in. Manny Burriss came up with runners at 1st and 2nd. The A's knew he was bunting and he bunted to the 3rd baseman and ran like the wind down the baseline. The throw was a little off and trickled away towards right field. Theriot scored, and Schierholtz went to 3rd base on the play. The speedy Burriss is what made the 3rd baseman rush his throw.

Next up was Angel Pagan and he actually hit a routine double play ball, but Burriss was flying down to 2nd base and put the pressure on them to turn the double play. The throw still was made and Pagan showed how fast he really is by beating the throw.

Pagan then steals 2nd base and made it look easy. Melky Cabrera then hit a hard line-drive single to right field, and Pagan scored easily from 2nd base.

It's going to be nice to see the Giants score a lot of runs by using their speed this year. That single inning had me excited to start the season. I have a good feeling about the Giants offense being more productive this year!

What's your thoughts on the Giants offense?
