No Offseason Here
I said I would be back the day after the World Series ended but time just started sliding away from me. I attended the parade on Wednesday and then didn't get back on the computer until today. It's not an entirely bad thing, as I would have had nothing worth reading to say. I still don't think the whole idea of everything has completely sunken in. The World Champion San Francisco Giants. What a ludicrous statement. The Giants don't win the World Series. They come close at times and then let you down. I felt it coming just as much as I'm sure you felt it too, but I am no less shocked that it happened. I was expecting a super emotional release, but instead there is this weird overall feeling of disbelief.
I do want to talk about the games, but in due time. We are going to have a new winter format as we wait for the start of Spring Training together. On Mondays I will assess the rumors and give my thoughts on where I believe the front office is going. Remember this has been for the most part not a column about what I would do, but rather my best estimate as to what the Giants themselves will do. I occasionally assert my opinion, but I try to stay away from, "the Giants should try to...", or "the Giants need to...", but rather, "I think the Giants will...". I have no need to start rumors or pretend I have insider information. Instead I will just try to see things through my self-proclaimed great baseball mind. I hope I've earned your trust by now. That all being said, I have not gotten too tapped into things as far as who is available, what the average salaries currently stand at, or what we have going on in our system. I have a general idea, but I like to have my facts in line before I comment on anything.
On Fridays, starting with this Friday, I will go over some key games from the regular season and all the postseason victories to give a more in-depth look at what was really going on. Forget all the sensationalist coverage that the talking heads will give you. We will go inside the games and look at where things really took their turn. I hope it ends up being as exciting as I'm trying to make it sound.
So that's all for now, come back Friday as I am really excited about the game review half of this offseason and of course we will start going in-depth on Monday. What a ride this year was. Just amazing.
Bring Huff back.
(feel free to comment or email me directly at realisticgiantsfan@yahoo.com. See ya Friday!)
