THE REALISTIC GIANTS FAN: Hey man, Did I Just Quote Meatloaf?

More Interleague, Yay!!! (Sarcasm)

As Meatloaf said, 2 out of 3 ain't bad. That being said I felt disappointment when we didn't sweep the Orioles. The Orioles do surprise me a little. They have a line-up that on paper doesn't look that bad. There pitching is no good, even on paper, but I still would have expected them to be around .500 or just a little below. Granted they play in the toughest division in baseball, but they are getting beat by everybody. Miguel Tejada and Adam Jones haven't got off to the greatest start which puts pressure on Matt Wieters and Nick Markakis. Their numbers have consequently suffered meaning there biggest threat is Ty Wigginton. Now don't get me wrong, I like Wigginton and when he left the Astros I actually really wanted the Giants to pick him up, (Dave Flemming filling in for Gary Radnich told me it was an interesting suggestion but he didn't see too much upside in Wigginton.) but he shouldn't be carrying teams, and if you look at their record, he's not.

Now the woeful O's have travelled to Death and Disaster Hell on Earth Park (sometimes referred to as Petco) which means they are SUPER PRIMED for a sweep. That makes this series against the Jays very important. We must take 2 out of 3 to keep pace. We probably don't have to worry too much about the Dodgers over the weekend as they are facing Boston, but stranger things have happened than the Dodgers taking 2 out of 3 from the Sox. Probably won't happen, though, just like I expect them to kill us in at least 2 of the 3 when they come to AT&T. See kids, the Red Sox hit anybody, they don't really care who you are and we cannot get into slugfests. We just get blown out. That being the case these next two series, on the road mind you, are important, and for that matter so is the Dodger series after the Red Sox. I realize every game is important but let's be realistic, the Red Sox? Do you really expect that series to be won by us? If we do beat them in 2 out of 3, or somehow sweep them it will be a HUGE statement. It's not that I won't be rooting for us against the Sox, but I am setting myself up for the almost inevitable disappointment.

Well a short one today...see you Monday.
