Insights On The 2010 Giants Opener

Insights On the 2010 Giants Opener
by: King of Cali (Steven)

The Giants started the season off with a win over the Houston Astros. Tim Lincecum pitched a 7 inning gem. He didn't allow any runs. Lincecum looks like he's going to campaign for another Cy Young Award this year. I know, I know it's only the first game of 162.

The Giants are well known for the offensive struggles at the plate, but they did manage to score 5 runs against the Astros. They got 3 of them in the 2nd inning off of Astros ace Roy Oswalt. The two key offense additions for the Giants Aubrey Huff and Mark DeRosa managed to go 2 for 7 at the plate. The did score a combined 3 runs and got 1 RBI. That RBI actually came off the bat of DeRosa. He hit a homer over the right field wall. It was the first homer of the year for the Giants.

The Giants looked like a legit team. I mean they are not the Yankees, but they did score 5 runs and the starting pitching by Lincecum looked great. The two additions of DeRosa and Huff were not something to write home about, but they did make the line up more balanced. We are still not sure which Huff we got in the deal, but he is still a threat every-time he steps in the batters-box.
