Thoughts on the Aubrey Huff Signing

I have heard a lot of mixed reactions about the Aubrey Huff signing. I would have to say this is a signing that I like. Huff is coming off a down year, but he's got a lot of pop in his bat. That's what the Giants want and need. He's a low-risk high reward signing. He's taking a big pay-cut because of his off year. Which is another good thing about signing him. It's only a one year deal for $3 million. Which means Huff will be trying to prove himself again and will be playing for a big payday.

Huff is another Mark DeRosa type player except he's better fit to play infield than the outfield. By signing Huff that means Pablo Sandoval will move back to third base and DeRosa will end up in left field. Fans have said this will stung the growth of Travis Ishikawa. This gives Ishikawa another year to develop. Another good thing about Ishikawa is he can come in as a defensive replacement in the late innings.

The Huff signing means the Giants are no longer interested in signing Adam LaRoche. It was reported that the Giants offered LaRoche a 2-year deal worth $17 million. With that said that means the Giants may not be done this offseason. That leaves them with $5 million that they haven't spent this offseason yet. That they were willing to spend. 1. Lets spend the other 5 million or part of it on signing 1 more piece to the puzzel for a good outfield bat.I still think there is some good options left with pop and let bumgardner and posey be rookies and with there upside they will only get better in time.
